Subscribe/Renew Journal
The over weight teenager is now a visible urban phenomenon. The problem has become almost an epidemic and obesity has become globesity. The results of mass exercise testing of children in USA have indicated the poor physical condition of youth. Many popular articles and unpublished studies have expressed concern over the increase in sedentary habits of children in developing countries. Childhood obesity in school children has been termed double most serious nutritional disease in USA. Morbid obesity in children and adolescents can be associated with musculo-skeletol problems (e.g., slipped capital femoral epiphysis) as well as unusual cardiopulmonary complications such as, respiratory failure and pulmonary hypertension.
