Assessment of Therapeutic Value of Low Cost Supplementary Food, Pushti
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Several measures were undertaken by Government of India to provide food security to vulnerable sections of the society. Implementation of Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) in India has reduced the number of grade III malnourished children by 4 to 9 per cent in different regions of the country. However 1 to 3 per cent of children enrolled in ICDS programme continue to be in grade III malnutrition. Recognising the need to shift the grade II and III malnourished children to grade I and prevent severe forms of malnutrition, Government has recommended to supply double the quantity of supplement to grade III children through ICDS programme.
