In the underdeveloped tropics and subtropics the poor accessibility to synthetic vitamin A preparations by the common man is compensated by the abundant availability of certain fruits that contain substantially large amounts of the precursors of vitamin A. Nevertheless, sufficient attempts are not being made to convey the nutritional value of these fruits and the importance of an appropriate selection of fruits that are good sources or vitamin A , particularly to the people living in rural areas.
