Dietetics in the Hospitals of India
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Among the services which hospitals provide to inpatients, dietary service constitutes an important one. In fact, it is as important as the therapeutic service which forms the main stay of the hospitals. Realising this and also the unsatisfactory conditions of the dietetic departments in many of the hospitals in the country, the National Nutrition Advisory Committee (NNAC) of the Ministry of Health, Government of India, in 1965, appointed a sub-committee to study the problems associated with hospital dietetics and make recommendations for their improvement. Accordingly, the sub committee brought out its report in 1970, in the form of a book entitled "Standardised Diets for Hospitals".
