Food security is access to all people at all times for enough food for an active and healthy life. Recent statements by the Food and Agricultural Organisation of the United Nations suggest that globally, there is enough food for all, with average food availability increasing from 2290 kcal/person/day in the early 1960's to 2700 kcal/person/day in 1988-90.
