Effects of Feeding Hydrogenated Fat and Cholesterol on the Plasma and Liver Lipids in Rats
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Diet is thought to play an important role in cardiovascular discases. Saturated fats have been shown to raise plasma cholesterol and low density lipoprotein levels and dietary cholesterol increase total plasma cholesterol. It is clear that the 'diet-heart' question is complex, and new information is emerging continually. It is generally believed that to prevent the incidence of coronary heart diseases the composition of the diet should be altered by reducing the intake of total fats, saturated fats and cholesterol and by increasing polyunsarurated fats. However, many diverse opinions have been put forward by different investigators.
