Skinfold Thickness in Rural Pre-School Children

In many areas of our body the subcutaneous tissues are loosely attached to the underlying structures. These can be easily pulled up between thumb and fore finger into a fold and can be satisfactorily measured by a constant pressure skinfold caliper. Commonly measured skinfolds are triceps and subscapular skinfolds. These have been used in nutritional evaluation, as quantitative criteria of body fatness, and in the analysis of body composition.
