Intercropping

This volume on ' Intercropping' has emerged as a result of proceedings of the second symposium on ' Intercropping' in Semi-Arid Areas, held at Morogoro, Tanzania, from 4-7 August 1980. The papers presented were grouped under four main headings namely agronomy, plant breeding, plant protection and farming systems Under agronomy, plant breeding and plant protection various aspects viz. intercropping, various millets with soybean or groundnut, maize-bean intercropping, maize-legume intercrop system, intercropping with cassava, agroforestry where intercropping system of Acacia, Eucalyptus, and Leucaena with maize and beans can be promoted and effects of moisture and fertilizers are explained with suitable examples.
