Endemic goitre has been reported from parts of all over the world. Himalayan habitants in Nepal and low lying plains of Uttar Pradesh including the district of Gorakhpur were called as hyper-or super-endemic'and goitre prevalence in this area was found to be higher than in other endemic areas.
