Waterlow and Alleyne's, 1971' last review on protein malnutrition children pointed out that the concept of adaptation is of utmost importance regarding the understanding of nutritional problems. These authors stressed that this subject alone justifies investigations on adaptive mechanisms in PCM (Protein Calorie Malnutrition).
