Effect of Weaning and Oxytocin Administration on Milk and Fat Yield in Buffaloes
Subscribe/Renew Journal
The backbone of dairy enterprise is realizing maximum milk yield per animal per day. Weaning or artificial rearing of calves is another important aspect which increases the efficiency of milk yield. Lane et al have reported an increased fat percentage in cows injected with oxytocin. Graf reported a linear response in milk yield and oxytocin dose upto 5 USPU of oxytocin in cows. Oxytocin has been considered as galactopoietic. However, this type of information is lacking in buffaloes.
