Certain areas in our country seem to have soil deficient in trace minerals. As a result, the animals fed on the vegetation grown on such soils will naturally reflect the mineral deficiencies. Of particular interest is Cu and Co. Inadequacy of Cu will result in delayed oestrus while that of Co deficiency will lead to depressed appetite in cattle. Studies carried out have indicated that by supplementing the ration of livestock with Cu and Co to be beneficial.
