Biochemical Profile of Patients Suffering from Iodine Deficiency Disorders
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Iodine is an essential element for normal growth and development in human beings. Iodine deficiency is one of the most neglected and widespread of all nutritional deficiencies. Two most recognized features of iodine deficiency in the past like endemic goitre and cretinism are the tip of the "iceberg" of Iodine Deficiency Disorder (IDD). Certainly there are other consequences of iodine deficiency which affect all ages including foetus. As far as the magnitude of IDD is concerned, no state in India is free from ill effects of iodine deficiency.
