Subscribe/Renew Journal
Malnutrition has been one of the 'major causes of ill health in many developing countries including India. Realising the serious health implications of the prevalent malnutrition the Government of India initiated a number of nutrition action programmes for the vulnerable segments of population Experience with the implementation of the above programmes suggested that unless these programmes are integrated with general health services and educational services, no lasting benefits would accrue to the people. Hence the concept of integrated child development services (ICDS) was developed by Ministry of Social Welfare in 1975.
