Consumption of Common Salt in some Communities of India

The use of salt as food appetiser is a universal dietary practice. Salt intake of individuals varies widely and is very much a matter of habit. In India salt is not usually added separately to food at the table but is used with the food during cooking. Results of a diet survey conducted by these laboratories have revealed that the average per caput consumption of salt per day in South India was 18 g1.
