Chronic Energy Deficiency and Obesity among Rural Women-Relation between BMI and Select Body Composition Parameters
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Women are vulnerable to several weight related health risks associated with being overweight, losing weight and being underweight by choice or by circumstance. They have shorter life expectancy, experience high maternal mortality and have a higher incidence of chronic diseases and conditions such as chronic energy deficiency, obesity, nutritional anaemia, osteoporosis, diabetes, hypertension and other cardiovascular diseases. Women's overall health status is further diminished by higher rates of poverty, lack of education and limited or non-existent access to medical care.
